A behavioral systems company.
Theory Orbit exists for organizations whose decisions depend on understanding people they will never meet. We engineer the instruments, models, and interpretation layers that turn anonymized behavior at scale into decisions that are defensible the next morning.
The gap we were built to close
Most organizations operate on behavioral data that was collected by accident — instrumented for a forgotten engineering reason, surveyed for a quarter that no longer matters, summarized into dashboards that flatten everything interesting out of the signal. The result is decisions made with confidence on instruments nobody calibrated. Theory Orbit rebuilds that stack as a designed system.
Posture
We are researchers who think like engineers. Every artifact we ship — a model, a brief, a segmentation, an instrument spec — comes with the conditions under which it holds and the boundary at which it breaks. The boundary is the most valuable part. It tells the organization where its current understanding ends, which is the only honest starting point for the next decision.
Instrument first.
If the sensor is wrong, every downstream interpretation is wrong with confidence. We rebuild the instrument before we trust the reading.
Publish the boundary.
Every model ships with the conditions under which it holds and the population it cannot see. The boundary is the deliverable.
AI is a component, not a conclusion.
We use models where they improve calibration. We do not use them to manufacture certainty the underlying data does not support.
Refuse predetermined answers.
We decline engagements where the conclusion is already written. Research that exists to validate a decision is not research; it is decoration.
Trajectory
- 2024Founded in Delaware
Theory Orbit is incorporated as a behavioral systems practice — half research lab, half engineering shop.
- 2024First standing engagement
A consumer platform retains us to rebuild its behavioral measurement stack from the schema layer up.
- 2025Field notes goes public
We start publishing transmissions on instrumentation discipline, model boundaries, and the failure modes we keep seeing in the wild.
- 2026Standing Orbit retainers open
We formalize the long-form relationship — quarterly recalibration for organizations whose populations move faster than annual research cycles.
“We do not sell certainty. We sell a system that updates faster than the environment it operates in.”
